This past Saturday started with an unplanned adventure.
Originally, my plan was to get the DH out the door at 6:30 a.m as required, with everything he could possible need for his overnight away.
That would leave me a few hours to sew before I had to leave to meet the girls for our spa visit - hopefully finishing the machine quilting on the Modern Quilt Guild Challenge Project.
We discussed, he made a list, packed his stuff, staged everything in the garage for the early morning loading and we did it!! He was pulling out the driveway at 6:30 a.m. on the dot.
I went back upstairs to discover that in the 2 minutes I was downstairs, while the pets ate their respective breakfast in their respective crates - Drake hurt himself.
I opened his crate, picked up his now empty food bowl - no way an injury was going to stop him from eating - had him step out to me and knew when I saw this,
it was a 'One of these things is not like the other' moments that meant we were heading to the vet! The Plan was out the window!
Fortunately, it was not a broken toe - it's a sprained toe. No, we can't exactly figure out how he did it. Our fabulous vet, Dr. Chris, was not in the office, but Dr. Cynthia was. Thankfully, the staff understands that doing anything to Drake, like x-rays, is easier if I'm in the room to handle him. He's not bad for them but why add separation anxiety to the mix. And I got to see the x-rays on the monitor less than 2 minutes after they were taken.
Pain meds, rest, time and some pampering will make it all better. And the hot stone massage I had later in the day made all the difference in the world for some of the extreme tightness I've had.
I'm already planning my next one. Kind of like my quilt projects - planning the next one, and the one after that, and the one after that...
Poor Drake! Glad the toe was not broken and that he is on the mend. What, no Bristol for you last weekend??? What has the world come to when Cherry Red doesn't go to faire?
ReplyDeleteOuch! That looks sore. Hope Drake is feeling better soon.
