On to the planning of the bird in the Air blocks for the new quilt.
The recent trip to Michigan meant packing, with a limited amount of time to get everything together & ready to go. Rather than dither around trying to figure out what to take, I grabbed piles - clearing out a good portion of the stash drawers into the rolling bag.
When I unpacked, I had this.
Random unsorted shades of yellow, orange, coral, and pink batiks, piled high. And yes, some purple and violets stacked behind. Having this much depth to the stash is awesome - it just needs some organizing in order to figure out the color progression for the blocks.
The best way to sort is the do it in the daytime, with overhead task lighting and a glass of hard cider. It's not just a matter of sorting by shade, it's also an elimination process. If a piece of batik has too many shades or colors or busy pattern, it will throw off the progression.
So far, so good! On to figuring out which colors to actually use on which Bird block.
