A Great Sadness

This is not an easy post to write.

This is not an easy thing to live with.

For the first time in 25 years, I am without a beloved dog by my side.

On Monday, November 21, 2016,  Ch. Magik's Redfyre Renaissance Man , aka Drake,  my beloved Shar Pei crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Drake was mine from the time he was twenty minutes old, until now at 11 1/2 years old.

Dr. Chris confirmed that the melanoma he had removed from Drake's cheek a few weeks ago had already metastasized to his right lung.

There was nothing more we could do but let his spirit run free. Our hearts are broken. It's hard to breathe. This will take some time to deal with.

  1. So sorry to hear of your loss... it does take a while to figure out how to live without our beloved furry soulmates :(

  2. Crossing the Rainbow Bridge allowed Drake to escape cancer. Try to focus on that fact. Hugs to you as your heart heals.

  3. Such a sad loss. There will be a Drake shaped hole around your house for a while. I still occasionally think I see Merle out of the corner of my eye, 18 months after she went. And now I'm shedding a few tears for you and Drake, for Hobbes, for me and my two that were lost last year. For all the pets we've lost through our lives. They have wonderful lives with us, enrich our lives, and then they go. Now I have to go find a tissue!

  4. Love and healing warm thoughts for you and Wil. Drake will be waiting for you along with Hobbie and all your other dear dog kids. Love you guys
