Grand Illusion Mystery - Clue #2 Progress

This week Clue # 2 of Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Mystery finds us using our black, neutral and pink fabrics.

I carefully laid out the neutral half yards to crosscut the rectangles without having to handle the cut strips.

Bonnie gave us three different methods to piece the units.  After some careful deliberation, I chose to use the sew and flip corner method which yields...

BONUS Triangles!

Lots & lots of bonus HSTs in neutral & black and neutral & pink!  Just a little extra sewing gives me usable units that will finish at 1.5".  These are going into that plastic bin for safe keeping.  And keep them away from little helper paws, of course. I'll be pressing them and trimming the dog ears later this week so they are ready for use.

In the meantime, this is how far I got by yesterday evening.

I'll be drawing more stitch lines on my end squares during lunches and breaks today. Should be able to easily get all the double diamond units constructed before Clue #3 releases on Friday.  CLICK HERE to see everyone's progress on their mystery quilt. It's truly amazing to have quilters from all across the globe participating in the mystery.

  1. They look great in your batik fabrics! I also love seeing people all around the world working on the same project in their own way. But your link to the link-up seems to be missing? You've got "Click here" but there doesn't seem to be an actual link?
